Mary Pilon, author of the new book, The Monopolists, will be giving a presentation and book-signing on Friday, May 1st at 7:00 pm. Pilon's book is about the secret history of the board game, Monopoly. In it, she traces the game's history from its politically-minded feminist originator, through its evolution as a folk game to a commercial blockbuster.
While investigating the game, Mary came to Arden, met with Ardenites, and did research at the Arden Craft Shop Museum to understand the connection of Henry George and the Landlord’s Game to the game of Monopoly.
Mary has worked as a New York Times sports reporter and at the Wall Street Journal where she focused on economics and finance.
Refreshments will be served, and Mary will answer questions and sign books. Books are $25.00-please bring cash for purchase.
